Meet Gabriel & Castellon: two Dutch music fanatics at heart, hard working dedicated producers, focused musicians, passionate DJ’s and yes, members of that rare breed of producers. Their relatively young but very vivid music career can very well be described as a tutorial for aspiring producers. Gabriel & Castellon productions always do the trick on the global dance floors, creating an ever growing fan base worldwide amongst both peers and clubbers with every production they make. Never following the momentary path of short lived music hypes, Gabriel (Gabriel Vezzola) and Castellon (Steven Willems) stick to their unique trademark sound which carved their very own niche in the saturated music industry. To distinguish oneself in today’s scene is mandatory and Gabriel & Castellon are certainly up to the task.
After performing an incidental set in Castellon’s resident club Cinema in Rotterdam in 2006, individual talent was connected on the spot and a deep rooted passion for quality house was shared instantly. Plans were made to find out if this synergy could be translated to some serious studio sessions, resulting in a string of Gabriel & Castellon tunes and remixes over the years. The Gabriel & Castellon combination is a proven success story and the perfect hybrid between studio technique, equipment knowledge, decades of musical backgrounds and an overflow of creativity. As Gabriel cum laude graduated from the Audio Visual Academy (AVA) as a licensed sound engineer, he knows his way in the studio where utmost quality of every individual Gabriel & Castellon production is guaranteed and never disappoints.
Their discography reads like a thrilling chapter in the “Big Book of How To Make It In The Music Business”. Churning out one massive tune after the other, Gabriel & Castellon unleashed tracks on labels such as Flamingo Recordings, Stealth Records, Audiodamage Records, Floorplay Records, Little Mountain Records, the legendary Nervous Records, Star 69, N.E.W.S. Records, Sneakerz and their home base Selekted Music where they find themselves amongst superstars like David Guetta, Deadmau5, Swedish House Mafia, Robin S and many more music honchos.
Besides delivering rocking club tunes, The G and C know exactly how to target the airwaves as well. Their singles Shut Your Eyes, a spot on cover of the Snow Patrol evergreen, shot its way to charts and playlists of national and international radio. Its successor Soul featuring the vocals of Jerique Allan continued the success by being added to playlists of not only Dutch broadcasters such as Radio 538, SlamFM and 3FM, but on an international level on renowned radio stations such as Defected Radio, Ministry of Sound Radio, Galaxy FM, Kiss 101 FM and many more.
Gabriel & Castellon rapidely became a household name in the industry and much in demand remixers. To date, the duo had the honor to rework tracks of Roger Sanchez, Dirty South, Hoxton Whores, Lucien Foort, Prok & Fitch, Muzikjunki, Hitmeister D, Filthy Rich, Plastik Funk, Lojak, and then some. Their formula is simple yet effective: add balls to the production in terms of rhythm, but keep it female friendly. And considering the amount of acclaimed labels and A-list artists requesting Gabriel & Castellon’s services, it’s a proven formula to say the least.
The dynamics and synergy when behind studio equipment is also clearly evident when Gabriel & Castellon hit the decks on national and international stages. Having rocked the stages of events and festivals such as Emporium, Sneakerz, Pleasure Island, Free Festival, Fast Forward Parade, Release Yourself (alongside Roger Sanchez), Trix In The Mix and in clubs and venues like Jimmy Woo, Hotel Arena, Matrixx, Club Vie, Escape Venue, Bloomingdale and more prolific spots, Gabriel & Castellon deliver the goods and serve the clubbers their blend of raw, uncut and sexy rhythms. Their powerful DJ sets didn’t go by unnoticed with foreign promoters as they travelled to numerous hot spots in England, Spain, Greece, Germany, Denmark, Turkey and the Balearic Pearl Ibiza.
Future plans are already lined up and it looks bright for the dynamic Dutch duo. With a string of new releases and remixes ready for release and a tight DJ schedule, Gabriel & Castellon are destined to rock your senses for many years to come, always keeping it female friendly!
Some producers excel in forking up a never ending stream of releases, having quantity as their main motivation rather than quality. Some producers excel in making the occasional bad ass hit but fail when they are forced to continue the high level of quality and as a result, being filed under “one trick ponies”.
The breed of producers who can live up to the standards they single handedly created, fusing flawless studio techniques with unlimited creativity ánd have the ability to produce quality tunes time after time - whether own productions as well as remixes for established artists - is a rare phenomenon.
