Born in Jamaica and nicknamed ‘Music Man’ as a child, it was clear that Corey would head straight for a life in the music industry. At a young age, Corey and his family moved to New York and his youth was spent learning to spin Reggae and Hip-Hop in Brooklyn.
Realising that House music was his passion, Corey moved to the Balearic island of Ibiza in the summer of 2005 to push his talent further. Corey spent this time working intensely in the studio, mixing and producing and building up a following in the islands clubs. Corey’s own label Kawa Music launched in 2008 with a clear vision of where he wanted the label to go and a strong understanding of the importance of getting everything just right.
The year 2008 saw Corey with a residency at Plato68 and the launch of his own radio show on Hot FM in Malaga, Spain. This saw the birth of Corey’s We Play Ibiza brand, the show’s title which is now the name for his residency nights in London. During this time Corey was also resident DJ for Miss Moneypenny at Pangaea, Puerto Banus and legendary clubbing brand Cream on the Costa Del Sol with guests including Carl Cox, John Digweed, Steve Angello, Tiesto, Tom Novy, Freemasons, Robbie Rivera, Sonique, and Dirty South.
On the production side Corey released Chocolate Loving which hit No. 7 in the UK Upfront Club charts in May 2008 and No. 6 in M8 Magazine charts in June of that year. This success was followed in September with Secret Rainbow which peaked at No. 11 in UK Upfront Club charts.
Corey’s current release At My Best is a collaboration with his childhood heroine Robin S, which has already achieved success in charts, clubs and commercially. The single has now been licensed worldwide and is set to be a future classic. Not just content with owning his label Kawa Music and growing success as a producer and DJ in his own right, 2009 sees Corey and his music going onto a global level in clubs, on the radio and smashing the charts.
This summer Corey has produced a studio album due for release at the end of this year and Corey returns to his We play Ibiza night with shows set to air across Europe. Corey says: "I am dedicated to my music and channel my passion and drive to achieve further success on a global scale for myself, my label and my artists"
Watch this space for Corey’s eagerly anticipated forthcoming release Otididae and Fregata Drums on his own label Kawa Music, in close collaboration with his current home base Selekted Music.
